Sarah Jarrell, preaching

Week of October 11, 2009

QUICK REFLECT   Looking back on this week’s message was there anything that particularly caught your attention, challenged or confused you?

OPENING:    Carefully look at each word in the equip definition.  Which words do you think are significant?

To equip is to engage in activities which feed and nourish us so we can continue to grow and mature that we might do God’s work and build up the body of Christ.

THOUGHTS:  In preparing for the message I did a keyword search on Bible Gateway for the word equip.  The results included sightings for the word equipment.  This is     what clued me into the importance of the phrase “engage in activities.”

What are activities that equip us to do God’s work and build up the body of Christ?

Read Ephesians 4:11-16

What is the purpose in becoming equipped?

What are the benefits?

Where is the individual responsibility found in the passage?

Looking at Couts Methodist Church as our community of faith, how do we become a healthy, and growing, and full of love part of the body of Christ, when we have parts that are not growing?

Does God “expect” us to grow in our faith?  What if someone chooses not to?

Read, Luke 2:52

Jesus grew in wisdom, in His faith and in His relationships.

How is this relevant to us?

of faith?

Why do you think God designed our lives to be ones of choices?

Where do we find accountability for our choices; in our world, in our relationships, in our careers, in our community of faith?

What are pros and cons to being held accountable?

Do you want to be held accountable in the body of Christ?
